y-Fe2O3 was composed explicitly for tape. The warm, slightly distorted sound, the soft hiss, the fluctuation of playback speed creates sonic characteristics that are missed today and are therefore deliberately simulated. The unpredictability, and thus the loss of control over sonic effects, became part of the creative process resulting in the experimental yet musical piece. A journey through worlds of spherical sound and hard hitting beats. A distillate of exquisite sound material and diverse compositional ideas plays on a soft carpet of white noise. Side B contains the artifacts, which are solely due to the medium.
